For over two years, we've explored Perth's cafes, bakeries, and tea houses to find the finest scones, sampling various flavors.

On Wednesday, December 18th, we finally had the chance to visit Mrs. Rabbit’s in the Swan Valley. Her enticing scone photos and charming Instagram stories had placed her high on our "must-visit" list for some time.

Nestled between vineyards and grapevines we found our destination for an hour or so of hoped for delights.

The tearooms various rooms all have an old world charm and cosy atmosphere. Beautifully decorated with hand picked ornaments and tea services (some for sale).

The service was lovely. Their offering of scones for our visit were cheese & chives, classic and fruit scones.

We chose a cheese and a classic scone but couldn’t resist the addition of a slice of raspberry and hazelnut cake!

Small note: A visit to Mrs Rabbits should come with a warning to not eat breakfast before you arrive. Why will become clear.

First up, the cheese scone: She was huge ! When we say huge we mean large! round (as we like them) with the perfect amount of crunch. Soft centers without being spongy or dense. Could there have been a stronger cheese taste to them, yes. However that can come down to taste preference. They were warm (important) and the butter melted perfectly into them. We loved them.

The classic plain scone: Again. Huge ! Everything that we have said about the cheese scone was repeated here in the plain scone. Crunchy outer with a perfectly soft center.

The jam is amazing, home made blackberry ? I believe. I’m cross with myself as I wanted to buy a couple of jars and forgot. Next time !

The cream. Delicious. We did however have to ask for more as the portion was small when you had such a huge scone to cover.

The raspberry and hazelnut cake: While very pretty to look at with its edible petal dusting, was overly sweet for us and we only had a few bites.

Mrs Rabbits is a delightful surprise in an area mostly comprising of vineyards.

She is well worth a drive to the swan valley for morning or afternoon. We will be recommending her to everyone.

Don't forget to book through their website.
